April is National Poetry Month, and what better way to celebrate than honoring the work of two dedicated craftsmen: William Mohr and Rick Lupert? Open to the public, the 4th Annual Beyond Baroque Awards Dinner will be hosted at the Church in Ocean Park, Santa Monica. More than 100 poets and their fans will be in attendance.
Recipient of the George Drury Smith Award, bestowed upon poets whose work transcends the L.A. area, William Mohr is being honored for over 40 years of service to the craft in Southern California. Not only an incredible poet, Mr. Mohr is also a prominent editor, critic, teacher, and publisher. His level of literary activism is unparalleled, with numerous international publications and featured performances on stages across the United States.
Twice nominated for the prestigious Pushcart Prize, Rick Lupert will receive the Distinguished Service Award on April 6th. This award is given to poets in the Los Angeles area who inspire local interest, while elevating the craft to new levels in their community.
